Meet the care team
Kyle Miller, M.D.
Dr. Miller is a board-certified family medicine physician. He was raised in Kansas and trained through KU School of Medicine in Kansas City, Wichita and Salina to complete medical school and residency. He previously worked in a private practice in Lawrence, Kansas, seeing patients of all ages for primary care and urgent care, and in a college student health care center.
Dr. Miller’s calling is primary care with a focus on preventive health to support individuals in achieving their health goals and educating on chronic disease processes. He joined Spira Care to focus on primary care in an exciting care model to provide a comprehensive care approach.
He believes Spira Care is designed to be a home for members to seek healthcare. It is a place for prevention and management of chronic issues, and also offers a team who can guide members through health concerns and the complexity of the healthcare system.
Dr. Miller lives in Lawrence, Kansas, which he appreciates for its small-town feel and eclectic stores. In his free time, Dr. Miller loves to exercise and spend time with his family. His favorite forms of exercise are long distance running and Ashtanga yoga. His wife is also a family medicine physician, and they have two sons.
Michael McGinnis, M.D.
INTERNAL MEDICINE AND PEDIATRICS
Dr. McGinnis is board certified in internal medicine and pediatrics. In his previous roles, Dr. McGinnis has worked with patients of all ages in inpatient and outpatient settings in a wide array of practice settings, from urban and suburban settings to rural clinic and hospitals. Whether assisting members with routine preventive appointments, sick visits or managing complex conditions, he recognizes the importance of member autonomy and respects their uniqueness.
In his free time, Dr. McGinnis can be found spending time with his family, exercising, traveling and working on his house and yard. He is also a big supporter of the Royals, Sporting KC and the Chiefs.

Stephanie (Arnold) Batchelder, PA-C
Stephanie Batchelder is physician assistant specializing in family practice medicine. She received her undergraduate degree from Kansas State University and completed her physician assistant training at Wichita State University. Stephanie comes to Spira Care with 14 years of experience and believes in building a rapport with members so they feel supported and can be proactive in their physical and behavioral health. In her leisure time, Stephanie enjoy anything outdoors including road biking, hiking and swimming.
Heather Yates, PA-C, MHS
Heather Yates is a Nationally Certified Physician Assistant specializing in family medicine with interests in women’s health and patient advocacy. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology from the University of Kansas and completed her Master of Health Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Heather has 25 years of experience as a PA in family medicine and enjoys working with people of all ages to address their primary care needs. She believes it is critical to treat the whole person, physical and behavioral health, in order to achieve optimal wellness. She wants members to know that primary care providers have their back and will help navigate both simple and complex medical conditions. Heather looks forward to partnering with members in their healthcare journey.
Brook Melvin, APRN, FNP-BC
Brook Melvin is a Nurse Practitioner at Spira Care Overland Park. She started her career with bedside nursing in the medical and surgical areas where she fell in love with taking care of people and helping them improve their health. After she completed her master’s degree, she worked in rehab and long-term acute care settings, occupational based primary care and family practice. Brook spent the last nine years in outpatient primary care working with patients from newborns to geriatrics, specializing in chronic disease management and preventive and acute care needs.
Brook says her patients would likely describe her as approachable, good at listening and compassionate. By taking a member-centric approach to care, she spends time with her patients to help them achieve their health goals. At Spira Care, Brook is dedicated to helping members focus on prevention of disease, lifestyle management and treatment of any chronic or acute healthcare concerns.
Her role as a primary care provider is to connect and be a trusted resource to help members live life to the fullest enjoying what they love to do each day. Building relationships and history with her patients is important to Brook so she can help a member with any medial issues that may arise and guide the member through their care plan.
Brook received her master’s degree in nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner focus at the University of Missouri – Kansas City and completed her undergraduate degree in Nursing at Barnes Jewish College of Nursing in St. Louis, Missouri.
Brook is married with two elementary school age children. She enjoys spending time with her family, movies, cooking and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs.
BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CONSULTANT
Jennifer Sanger is a Behavioral Health Consultant at Spira Care Overland Park. Jennifer is loyal, empathetic, authentic, and a natural helper. These traits led her to pursue a career in this field. In her role at Spira Care Overland Park, Jennifer helps members connect with their emotions, as well as gives them tangible tools that they can use to manage challenging situations, thoughts, and emotions. When meeting with members, Jennifer keeps her favorite quote in mind – “People want to be known, pursued, and enjoyed.”
Jennifer’s hometown is Leawood, Kansas. She loves many things about Kansas City, including driving on Ward Parkway, the Plaza lights during the holidays and the Royals and Chiefs. When Jennifer is not at work, she can be found spending time with her husband and children or chatting with friends. She loves Mexican food, tailgating, and good weather.
